Data Center Facilities Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

The position is in the IT Operations organization to support the U.S. Dept of Energy in the AOCIO operations arena; specifically the Enterprise Service Center, East (ESCE) located in Germantown, MD and Forrestal (Washington, DC) locations.


· Responsible for the design, implementation and support of the Enterprise corporate data center infrastructure.

· Research, recommend and implement new technology.

· Responsible for all cable plant, rack management, and environmental management in the data center in support of LAN, WAN, VPN, firewall, Internet, Back Office servers (Windows, Exchange, and Active Directory), SAN/NAS and Enterprise corporate services and monitoring.

· Also responsible for the daily data center and IT facilities management, disaster recovery, and data center infrastructure architecture design.

· Perform day-to-day management, updates, maintenance and troubleshooting of all data center infrastructure systems.

· Project management skills are essential to oversee the design, implementation, and support of the data center corporate infrastructure.

· Must be able to manage technical implementation projects and interface with DOE, GSA, and other data center or facilities federal and contractor personnel.

· Maintain a positive work environment and act in a professional and ethical manner.

· Communicate information effectively to customers, managers, team members, and technical staff.

Qualifications:

· Can demonstrate experience managing an Enterprise/multi-site data center. Experience with any “Green IT” initiatives would be a big bonus.

· BA/BS in computer science or related subject matter (Required)

· PMP Certified (Desired)

· Experience defining and analyzing user needs and requirements with a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements.

· Sufficient experience with project management concepts, related processes, principles and their application.

· 7+ years of experience in managing, designing, implementing, and supporting data centers and their support systems.

· 5+ years experience supervising technical staff.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
